Sweet Melissa

Otherwise known as Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis). And you thought I was talking about myself, didn't you? Nope, I just happen to have a whole lot of this herb growing in the yard and yesterday we had other first little harvest of it. Lemon balm is super delicious, it's lemony but in a very sweet and subtle way. To me the tea tastes like like fruit loops though I'm not sure everyone would agree. It's a member of the mint family, is considered a "calming" herb. I can see how they would say that. The favor is very soothing and comforting and the smell is divine. Try it sometime.

One of the many bushes.

Our first little harvest.

Iced lemon balm tea.

Oh, lemon balm is number one on my list to buy from the grower right down the road to add to our new homestead.
Thanks for sharing.
Warm wishes, Tonya
