Bumble Bees

Bumble bees are now in the shop!

wrap skirts

So I'm working on some new ideas. I've been thinking about getting a little more serious about making clothes. I'm still not confident enough to try pants or even a shirt from scratch as opposed to reconstructing one. So I'm starting with skirts - wrap skirts. So far I'm real happy with what I'm coming up with. Some are even reversible like the one below. They are one size fits most and made out of vintage fabrics. Now, I'm not sure how long my vintage fabric collection is going to last but mostly I'm going for a summery, light, blowy feeling. So as long as I find fabrics that give me that give me that feeling I'll be happy. I've got some shirt ideas too, but I haven't gotten there yet - coming soon...

What do ya think?

Maisy Day

Another owl up for adoption in the shop.

My newest goal is to update the shop more. I do have have things to sell, lot's of things. I must have some kind of block when I comes to updating things - my site, my blog, Etsy. Rrrhhh.... I must change this. I think, I have to change the way I think about it. You see, it doesn't feel like work. If I'm not sewing, stitching, cutting, pinning or the like then it doesn't feel like work. Hummm.... Can you tell I'm a bit of a workaholic? Megan said once I was too hard on myself about getting things done. I certainly can't sit still for very long without having something to do with my hands. I like to be busy, especially since I have more ideas than time. May be that's it, I'll just blame it on that and go on my merry way. Ha! Fixed! But I still must fix this updating block, that's my goal. It is now an important part of "work" to update (repeat, repeat).

Let's see, what's been happening...

This past weekend I threw a tea party for my Grandmom. Just a small one, family and some of my Mom's friends. My Grandmom of course was a party pooper at first and that's why there weren't any of her friends. But I have to say I got her this time and she had a wonderful time. There was tea, little finger sandwiches, cakes, cookies and lot's ladies chattering. I must say that the biggest hits (and I must share because you must have the recipes) were the Chai tea - made by Andrew, the shortbread cookies (me) and the biggest hit the pineapple upside down cake made by my lovely assistant - Megan. It's great to have great friends. You see, I'm not a baker or shall we say I haven't had much luck with things that rise. Pizza I can do but that's it. Oh what would I do without my Mego. Oh and Simply Recipes!

A thank you gift for Megan hopefully she hasn't tuned in yet to this blog.

Andrew's Chai Tea

* note most of the time we don't even use the tea - just water.

Makes one quart (that's four cups)

2 cups milk
2 cups black tea, green tea or just water
1/2 tsp cardamom seeds
1/2 tsp pepper corns
2 cinnamon sticks
2 tbsp sugar

milk and tea/water in a sauce pan with all the spices bring to a simmer and cook, stirring for about 15 minutes. Strain and enjoy!

P.s. Notice no tea party pictures?? Well, silly me forgets the camera. Can you believe it?!
